The Historical Society of Woodstock (HSW) was founded in 1929 by a group of artists, writers, academics and local citizens. The Society is committed to supporting the collection and preserving the history and traditions of Woodstock. In addition to the exhibition space, located at the historic Eames House, the HSW has an extensive permanent collection of works of art, books and manuscripts, photos, textiles, film and sound recordings, antique tools and other objects. The collection serves as a resource for exhibitions, public programs and research projects.
The Eames House is open Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. during the summer and fall.
Katharine Kotty Wangler

Katharine "Kotty" Bowen first came to Woodstock in the 1920s as a young woman accompanied by a chaperone.
Born in Pottsville, Pennsylvania in 1896, she married Albert C. Wangler in Woodstock in 1935 and remained in Woodstock until her death in 1996 at 100 years of age.
Although not an artist herself, Kotty was an avid supporter of both arts and crafts, and ran the Woodstock Guild of Craftsmen's gift shop for over 40 years.
She bequeathed funds to the Town for the purpose of "enhancing the arts in Woodstock." The Town is grateful for her generosity, and dedicates this gallery to her memory.

The Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild is a multi-arts membership organization. Its Kleinert/James Arts Center hosts local and national performing, visual and literary artists. The WBG offers a variety of classes in the arts and is steward of the Byrdcliffe Arts Colony. Founded in 1903, Byrdcliffe is one of the older artists colonies in the country, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its historical and architectural significance. It is home to a national Artist-in-Residence program.

Since its beginnings in 1920, the WAA has been committed to exhibiting
and collecting work in all media by area artists and supporting the tradition of Woodstock as the "Colony of the Arts".
Located in the center of the village of Woodstock, the WAA functions as a cultural center as well as an archive for the work of esteemed artists who have lived and worked in the vicinity.
Each year, the WAAM presents a full schedule of concurrent solo and group exhibitions, juried and non-juried, of local artists throughout its spacious galleries.
The Main Gallery hosts monthly group exhibitions, the middle gallery features solo shows of contemporary artists and the Phoebe and Belmont Towbin Wing is devoted to art from the Permanent Collection. Works created by students and children through the Education Program are featured in Youth Exhibition Space (YES!).
