Marc's band is one of Woodstock's favorites for concerts, dances, weddings and other special events. He performs all around the United States and in Europe, but does as many shows as possible in the Woodstock area.
Marc is one of a very few artists who's music has found a home both folk and pop radio as well as avant guarde shows like Jonn Schaeffer's New Sounds on WNYC. He recently won 'Artist of the Year' honors from ABC Radio's Fame Games. And he was also a finalist in this year's Kerrville Folk Festival 'New Folk' competition.
His recent politically inspired projects include a song and video in support of Barack Obama, 'Step Up America'. and his 'Love Song for Rachel Maddow' which has already been viewed more than 2,100 times on Youtube. Last year, a video of Black performing one of his song about Martha Stewart received 35,000 hits on youtube! He performed at the Sundance Film Festival with Donovan, under the auspices of ASCAP. And his song, "Lies in Red, White & Blue" has been as high as #33 on Neil Young's Living with War' site.
Marc has recorded with an array of luminaries including Taj Mahal, Jack DeJonnette, Rick Danko, Peter Schikele (PDQ Bach), and Garth Hudson. He collaborated with Richie Havens on the title cut of the award-winning, American children CD, and wrote the theme music for the New York Mets from 1987 till 1990.
His most recent full CD, Stroke of Genius features a supporting cast that includes Steve Gadd, Art Garfunkel, John Sebastian, and the Dixie Hummingbirds. The lyrics on this new album are based on the inspired poetry of a man who was in a coma for 21 days and miraculously woke up after his doctors had pulled life support.
The Marc Black Band has been part of the fabric of Woodstock since the 1970's. As Paul Winter put it, "His songs are great and his singing is superb."

A Passionate, Earthy Tribute to All Living Things
"Fiddlehawk's premier album is so much more than
A true musical triple-threat: brilliant songwriter, astounding instrumental player and phenomenal singer. Joey brings it all to this solo set of acoustic based ballads with spare but complex arrangements. This collection is nothing short of mind-boggling in its depth, diversity and extraordinary beauty. Like nothing else you've ever heard.
Simone, Ian and James Felice are the three eldest boys from a family of seven, born carpenters sons in the wilds of New Yorks Catskill Mountains. Less than a year ago, the Brothers adopted a runaway dice-thrower and chancer, a 19 year old called Christmas. They convinced him to quit his job and the motley quartet forsook all else but song and moved their Sunday BBQ sing-alongs from their dads upstate house out onto the streets and subways of NYC.After months of toil, living in a 1987 special education bus, with arrests, and genuine panhandler fun, a free-lance music writer named Gabe Soria (Mojo, Vice) stumbled upon the boys singing and barking their wares at a farmers market in Brooklyn and one thing led to another.
Levon Helm had been in the business of making music for over forty years and if the walls of The Barncould talk, what stories they would tell! Music legends galore have played, jammed and recorded there.
He based his Ramble Sessions on the southern medicine shows of his youth and had invited some of the most notable entertainers and musicians of our time to perform at The Midnight Rambles.
The 2008 Grammy for Best Traditional Folk Album went to Levon Helm for Dirt Farmer!

Singer/songwriter Chase Pierson formed Mechanical Bull after the dissolution of his first marriage, seeking to channel his romantic woes through the composition of country songs about matrimony, alcohol, and the American dream. Joined by an assortment of Woodstock-based musicians -- including the siren-voiced Avalon Peacock (daughter of singer/composer Annette Peacock) -- Pierson crafted the dusty laments of Mechanical Bull's 2007 debut, Songs to Get Divorced To. The album received support for its wry lyrics and unique vocal delivery, which paired Pierson's gravelly pipes with Peacock's smooth, dark alto. Mechanical Bull returned the following year with A Million Yesterdays, featuring a revised Woodstock lineup and a guest performance by jazz keyboardist John Medeski. ~ Andrew Leahey, All Music Guide
Over four decades the contributions of John Sebastian have become a permanent part of our American musical fabric.
His group The Lovin' Spoonful played a major role in the mid-'60s rock revolution, but what leader, singer and songwriter Sebastian had in mind was actually a counter-revolution. "We were grateful to the Beatles for reminding us our rock & roll roots," John explains, "but we wanted to cut out the English middlemen, so to speak, and get down to making this new music as an 'American' band." Woodstock is a popular band because of the wide appeal the band brings to family friendly events.
Woodstock made there professional debut in Las Vegas May 9, 2009 at The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. A spinoff of The Summer of Love Show that already played many clubs, resorts, casinos and private dance parties up and down the west coast. The 8 member band brings the great variety of songs and sounds that were enjoyed at the worlds most famous rock concert. Here are a few testimonials about recent shows.
"Everyone I spoke to loved the concert. I sent an email to our city's Parks & Recreation Director and the Cultural Arts Manager telling them that you were great. Also, I gave your contact information to the director of the Manhattan Beach Hometown Fair who wants to book your band."
"I planned the Pumpkin Festival for the City of Calabasas California. They were great! I booked them because they appeal to a wide range of people. Everybody loved them. They were easy to work with. On time. Very professional."
"I book all the bands at Fiesta Hermosa, California's largest Arts & Craft Fair. Tribute acts are our specialty for the main stage. In 2011 they played and was one of the better acts. If you're looking for a professional showband with all the great tunes of this era, and a stage full of awesome visuals, I highly recommend this band."
